YEAR-ROUND STANDARD TIME OF THE ENTIRE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND ALL OF ITS POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS; TO AUTHORIZE EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ADJUST SCHOOL START TIMES DUE TO THE YEAR-ROUND OBSERVANCE OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) Notwithstanding how time is advanced pursuant to 15 USC Section 260(a), daylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the entire State of Mississippi and all of its political subdivisions.
(2) Each school district may adjust school start times based on student safety and available daylight as a result of this section.
(3) The Department of Agriculture and Commerce may study adjustments in standard agricultural practices as a result of this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2015.
