Following Daylight Saving Time legislation in the US

Alabama – 2015

Status Summary

One bill now active in Alabama for 2015:

  • SJR 6, sponsored by Senator Rusty Glover and filed March 5, 2015, is a resolution to request the President and US DOT to allow states to switch to permanent or Year-Round DST.

Time Zone Report had previously anticipated that a bill similar to the Alabama 2014 bill and the current Mississippi bill from 2015 would be filed this session.  Looks like this won’t be happening, but now late in the session SJR 6 has appeared.

See our post from January 23 with information from Senator Rusty Glover.

Legislation Intent

This Resolution requests permission of the US President and the Department of Transportation to allow Year-Round DST.  No mention is made in the text of the US Congress, who many believe are the ones who must change 15 USC 260a in order to permit Year-Round DST.
