Following Daylight Saving Time legislation in the US

“Saving” or “Savings”

Is it “Daylight Savings Time” with an S, or “Daylight Saving Time” without the S?

We hear this question a lot.  Technically, there is no S in the term, it’s “Daylight Saving Time”.  Why?  Here in the US, you might say “because federal statute 15 USC Subchapter IX entitled ‘Standard Time’ says so.”

Daylight Saving Time

Think of it as “daylight-saving time”, with a hyphen. Except don’t put a hyphen, and capitalize every word.

Don’t ask me what they call it in other languages… I’m doing good to explain it in English!  Yeah, English is hard.
