Following Daylight Saving Time legislation in the US

South Dakota – 2015

Status Summary

One bill was filed in the South Dakota House of Representatives January 27, 2015, but killed February 4, 2015:

  • HB 1127, co-sponsored by Representatives Kaiser and Campbell and Senator Jensen, proposes to abolish DST in South Dakota, though some people interpret the presence of the phrase “summer time” to mean “Year-Round DST”.  No effective date is mentioned in the bill

Legislation Intent

This bill would have essentially abolished DST in the state of South Dakota, or as some interpret it, adopt a Year-Round DST.  The legislation, as introduced, does not mention an implementation date.  Ostensibly, if this legislation is adopted this session, it could trigger the elimination of DST immediately, meaning that the state would not observe DST in March of 2015.
