Following Daylight Saving Time legislation in the US

Alaska SB 6 Read Third a Time

Senate Bill 6 sponsored by Sen. Anna MacKinnon would stop DST in Alaska in 2017, meaning two more years of DST, then no more.

This bill has been read in Senate for the third time.  If you’re unfamiliar with state legislative procedure, each bill is “read in” at the time of submission, and then as it progresses through the chamber in which it was introduced (House or Senate), it is “read in” again.  Many bills don’t make it past the first reading before being stopped, or “killed” as it is often called.

So this bill reaching the third reading state – that’s good news.

Here at Time Zone Report, we think this bill has a good chance of being voted on this week in the Senate, after which it’ll need House approval before going to the governor for passage.
