Following Daylight Saving Time legislation in the US

Utah Bill to Exempt State from DST

Time Zone Report learned today that Representative Fred Cox is the chief sponsor of House Bill 65 entitled “Exemption from Daylight Saving Time”, to be considered in the state’s 2016 general session.

This bill, unlike the Utah bills considered during the 2015 general session, was pretty simple and straightforward: no more Daylight Saving Time in the state.

While this bill doesn’t mention a specific effective date, it would need to be approved quickly to take effect prior to the start of DST in most of the US states — which starts Sunday, March 13, 2016.  Arizona and Hawaii do not observe DST.
