While there’s no bill in Pennsylvania proposing to make changes to Daylight Saving Time in the state, here at Time Zone Report we wanted mention something their legislature is doing to help promote the health and safety of their citizens during the time change coming March 8, 2015.
There is a resolution, sponsored by Senator Dominic Pileggi, which was introduced and adopted in the Pennsylvania legislature declaring March 2 to March 8, 2015 as “Sleep Awareness Week” in the state. Here is the text of Senate Resolution 34 of 2015:
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of March 2 through 8, 2015, as “Sleep Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, “National Sleep Awareness Week,” which takes place March 2 through 8, 2015, is an annual public education and awareness campaign to promote the importance of sleep; and
WHEREAS, Numerous Americans suffer from sleep loss and do not get a sufficient amount of sleep; and
WHEREAS, Americans should be aware that sleep is an important component of their health and safety; and
WHEREAS, The lack of quality sleep leads to fatigue and diminishes a person’s ability to stay alert; and
WHEREAS, Public awareness of the signs and symptoms of sleep disorders is important in seeking effective treatment; and
WHEREAS, The week of March 2 through 8, 2015, ends with the clock change to daylight savings time, where Americans lose one hour of sleep; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of March 2 through 8, 2015, as “Sleep Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania.
