Daylight Saving Time starts this weekend! As you can see in the map above, plenty of states are looking at legislation this year to make changes. Beyond the legislative issues, though, I want to help you survive the change this weekend — literally, survive.

Idaho HB 198 “Won’t Go Forward”
I had an Email this morning from Representative Mike Moyle, sponsor of Idaho House Bill 198 whose intent was to establish Year-Round DST in the state. His Email was in response to several I had sent to him and Chair of the Idaho House Ways and Means Committee Christy Perry, outlining the problems associated with […]
Florida Year-Round DST Bill Introduced
Florida’s SB 432, which proposes to put Florida on Year-Round Daylight Saving Time, was introduced to the Senate today. “Introduction” in Florida legislation terms is the equivalent of the initial reading in other states. The bill was filed in late January, and Time Zone Report attempted to contact the bill’s sponsor, Senator Darren Soto, to […]

Spoke Too Soon: A Second Bill from Oregon!
So my mid-day web search uncovered Senate Bill 690 read in the Oregon Senate today, sponsored by Sen. Brian Boquist, which would eliminate Daylight Saving Time in the state. I’ve written to Senator Boquist regarding the absence of any specified effective or start date for the revised statute, recommending January 1, 2016 at the earliest.
Quiet on the DST Front
It’s eerily quiet out here. Not much going on regarding Daylight Saving Time, and yet, there are still 10 states with what appears to be active DST legislation. I say “appears to be”, because I’ve been reading up on how our government operates, how bills are created, killed, moved forward, and approved. I never was much […]
