Status Summary

Three bills are present in the Alaska senate.  One is still active and making progress:

The other two are currently inactive, deferring to SB 6 to carry the ball:

  • SB 11 sponsored by Senator Wielechowski would drop DST in Alaska effective January 1, 2016.
  • HB 64 sponsored by Representative Hawker would drop DST effective January 1, 2017, similar to SB 6.

Senate bills were introduced in early January, while the House bill was introduced January 21, 2015.

Legislation Intent

All bills propose to observe “standard time” year-round.  Senator MacKinnon’s SB 6 would take effect on January 1, 2017.
